To say that Liir didn't like children was entirely false.

For one, he'd dealt with enough young Animals while their parents were conversing with the Witch. For another, he'd lived among any number of children at different points, some while he was a child and some while he was on the cusp of... not being a child. Liir neither liked nor disliked them as a group, though he'd found that they didn't usually like him as a rule of thumb. He didn't hold this against them.

But as for this droid thing he'd been assigned to watch over, Liir could not have been said to even have a vague tolerance for it. The whole idea made his insides crawl as if they wanted to be his outsides and he'd consumed more tea and crackers in the last few days than he'd had in nearly a year.

He'd found something of a happy medium by leaving it to lay on the second bed in the room. It couldn't fall, he could tend to it quickly, and it wasn't anywhere near him. As a bonus...

"Makie, you don't mind watching the thing for a bit, do you?"

The dog's head tilted before she gave a little 'huff'. Liir took that for a yes.

"Good girl. Now, I'm going to figure out how to turn the heel on this and perhaps someone will have socks for Lurlinemas."

He found her out in the preserve.

It was hard to say if he'd been looking for her specifically or if he'd just been looking for something to do. Makejoy, who'd been worried about him all weekend, was glad that his looking had involved taking her along. Boy and dog and Witch out in the wilderness; there was something to this, something echoing and old. Liir couldn't help of thinking on Chistery, that didn't mean he didn't try.

But when he found her instead of solace or contentment, he paused. He didn't approach her, more than he already had. He just stood there, waiting.

Makejoy wasn't nearly so polite and bounded forward to see what all the fuss was about.

There was one thing that Liir did when he needed to get his head straight. Anyone who knew him knew this, as did anyone who looked up at the right moments. Liir took to the air, disconnected from everything and everyone; it was the ultimate escape, and while he felt a bit like a coward for taking it, that didn't stop him from zooming through the air, puffing through a cloud or two, and within about half an hour, even starting loop-di-loops.

Tonight was a night for the stupidest of things. It was for being reckless and uncaring, for doing things that might bodily harm him. It was a night for drinking, or worse. Perhaps even illicit drunken glitter-less boykissing. It was a night to bury the pain in foolishness, alienate all who knew and loved him, and make his mother even more ashamed than she was that she was most certainly his mother.

...which was all well and good, of course, except for the giant dog who would not let him out the door to go and be a stupid teenager. By the third attempt that had ended with him tackled to the ground, the angst had quite literally dissolved into good old-fashioned frustration and he reached over into the closet to flick the hot pot on for some hard, soul-numbing--

Tea.

Oh yeah. Oz's badboy was rocking it tonight.

"I'd be angry," he told Makejoy sternly, "except that you're probably saving me about three hundred dollars worth of trouble, an upset stomach, and a weekend full of headaches."

The dog stared back at him. Not mockingly. Just confused as to why Daddy was trying to be a moron. He was usually so sensible.

"And now I'm talking to my dog. Nameless Name, kill me now..."

*flops*

...omg so many miles to travel for a weekend.

BUT! I return. *waves* *goes to tag classes and get rehearsal up*

...warning, rehearsal might slowtime a wee bit due to the fact that work has TONS OF STUFF left over from yesterday.

Correction, Rehearsal will be Thursday. Because my brain is SO much moosh after being in the car for seven hours yesterday and I'm staring at my workload from today and wanting to weep.

...I've dropped some tags lately. And gone on SP with a lot of the play stuff. Two things:

1. I'm sorry.

2. I'm catching up as a I can.

While the move is over, the change in living space, timing, etc, is still kind of settling in and it's giving me less focus at work (where priority is, unfortunately, work) and more passing out at home (where, uh, I fall asleep and thus cannot RP). It's started to taper off, I think, so hopefully this will end soon but I just wanted to say something since I didn't want anyone to think I was ignoring them, didn't want to play with them, or whatever else.

I <3 you all, hopefully this will settle out soon, and I'm working on it ^_^

Thank you for your patience.

Liir had a television in his room.

If you asked him, he would tell you why he'd got it and why he'd kept it and how it'd been for his roommate's comfort and all that, but mostly he kept it so that other people would feel more comfortable about coming by. Most of the people here had televisions, liked television, and it made for a good enough place to put books at the top that he didn't feel oddly about keeping one.

...that said, he himself was reading with his dog curled up heavily (but comfortably) on his back.

As was rather common on nights when Liir didn't have much to do, he was in his room, with his dog. Also as was rather common on nights when he didn't have much to do, he was practicing magic.

...someone was more like his mother than he liked to admit.

*ahem*

After the fourth time he'd managed to turn a pencil into a pen (which was harder than you'd think, considering his specifications), he decided that the skill was learned and turned to his hot pot to start up a bit of tea. He'd earned some light reading and an evening curled up with Makejoy.

If anyone else wanted to come by, that'd be nice too.

As of today, there is official mod clearance for The Wizard of Oz and all related materials to be freely unmetaed. Considering the ridiculously pervasive nature of the canon as well as certain arguments for Oz as America's secular mythology, Ozian canon in all shapes and sizes is going to be treated like mythology and legend with the similar understanding that what they know could be off from reality. So the flying monkeys and the Yellow Brick Road and 'I'll get you my pretty', the 'munchkin's and 'no place like home's, the witches with big conical hats, the 'Boy from Oz', the 'man behind the curtain', and the million other little references, etc?

Go for it.

Unexpected Naked Jack Loss of Internet

Item 1: Haley-mun is currently without the interwebs due to an incident during the cleaning of her house. Will be fixed soon, hopefully.

Item 2: I was assured there would be internet at a place I would be most of the day, only to find out that the wireless there does not like me, oh no it doesn't. It doesn't like me in the face, in fact. I'm on now, though, but apologies for being missing all day.

Item 3: PROFIT!!?

Nothing seemed to work today.

His class had gone well enough, of course, but he'd tried to bake only to find he wasn't in the mood. Tried to cook to find the same. He'd tried even a flight and that hadn't been right at all, a feeling he couldn't shake off even after he'd touched the ground again. So, after walking Makejoy, Liir had decided to go to bed early.

That hadn't quite worked either.

Eventually, he'd gone and done something he didn't like doing, something he'd thought he was past; he reached into the closet and pulled out the Witch's cloak, burying his nose in the folds of the Munchkinlander wool, covering his eyes with the darkness of the fabric. It lay heavy over him, heavy but soft, and eventually, as it had many times before, it sung him to sleep.

"Eleka namen namen atum atum eleka namen... eleka namen namen atum atum eleka..."

The words were soothing, soft, a reminder of times past when he'd fallen asleep outside the Witch's room listening to her work even as he drifted off.

...he'd only realize sometime later that there was more than one voice singing.

Liir was there early, as he always was. He'd spent most of the morning gathering up a little bouquet of wild flowers which he'd tied up with a bit of twine, not to mention making sure he was dressed appropriately for a preplanned event with another person.

That's what it was, wasn't it?

So he waited, fiddling with the broom and hoping Joan came soon. Also that she wouldn't bring Penelope, as much as he liked the other girl.

Liir had actually packed a basket, since he was reasonably sure that that was how picnics were supposed to work, and made sure to get to the garden nice and early for his picnic with Ino since he wanted to have everything set up by the time she got here. That meant the blanket out, the jars of lemonade and tea assembled to one side, and the light meal (with a chocolate dessert as requested) set out for them to enjoy.

SO! It's
  • a holiday weekend!
  • the week someone has decided to visit (and then wanted to meet on the holiday HA! and garg garg garg)
  • ...the fifth weekend in a row where I have to travel
  • been a week full of fun sleeping trouble
As such, my availability (and my brainability, to be honest) is going to be a bit sketchy for the next few days so if I drop a thread or fall asleep or disappear in the next couple of days, I apologize HEARTILY.

For Fiona's new little sib, I WILL TAG IN, I promise but, um, slowtime is luff y/y?

This goes for Fiona, Liir, Geoffrey, Rimmer, Abigail Irene, and Morgan.  Thank you all in advance for your patience.

The trip to to Kiamo Ko was started in darkness, but soon enough it was light. Kellswater had been just a murky spot of black (nothing interesting to look at at all), but by morning the Great Kells were visible in the distance and the Vinkus River slithered in it's path beneath them. Liir ended up making a quick stop to leave a note at a certain shrine to Lurline he'd stopped at before and Amber was a little confused as to why he'd stomped on the ground before leaving. He explained about the grommet, but not much about the note not because he was keeping things from her but because it was hard to explain.

Soon enough, though, the keep came into view, built into the very heart of the rugged Kells. It had once been an administrative building built by the Wizard, but Fiyero's father had captured it and made it his own. Dark, stone, and imposing, the building certainly didn't scream 'home' even to Liir. Instead, it called up dozens of memories that had gone hazy, thoughts and dreams and moments he'd let slip into a comfortable state of unimportance.

'We don't turn anyone away,' he thought to himself, but no one much comes either. Welcome home, Thropp.

He headed for the courtyard, into the once-lovely orchard that now looked a bit ragged.

The marketplace in Oz was bustling, but that was normal enough. Venders shouted out the virtues of their wares, as it was a rather low-class market, and people pushed other people around to get through the street. There wasn't much room as a carriage with blue horses trotted by, utterly unaware of the rest of the world as the wheel nearly ran over a stray dog that followed along behind a red-faced Quadling boy. A few dwarves squatted near a booth, cleaning their wares as the very air seemed to muck them up again, and a Munchkin couple, one tall enough that he was obviously slumming, had found a corner that seemed private enough for young love to express itself.

Liir thought they probably should have searched a little harder.

Turning to Amber, he offered his hand as they stepped through the portal.

"Trism will be meeting us at St. Glinda's Square. It's not far from here," he told her, shouldering his bag a little in his nervousness.

Liir and Amber had managed to get just about everything one might need for a camping trip, even if it was only going to last one night. There was food, clothes, supplies, a tent, some sleeping bags... it all seemed terribly comfortable, which Liir found amusing since he'd found camping to be anything but.

More odd Earthness, he figured.

When he found a spot that was relatively out of sight but not too far from the main area of the school, he put his things down and nodded to Amber.

This should do, he figured.

Good idea - bring laptop on family trip.

Bad idea - forget power cord.

Good luck - there's internet where we're going.

Bad luck - food poisoning/stomach bug FTL.

Good thing - I have my Blackberry for play!

Bad thing - ...I have my Blackberry for play.

In short? Availability spotty to zero until Saturday. If you need to God my pups and I've given you standing permission, please feel free to. If you need me, email and I'll do my best.
